Congrats to Kevin Sherry who finished second in the state in the 3200 and is the 2024 state champion in the 1600! Both times were CASD records. There will be a fire truck escort through town on their way home today around 5:30 coming from the hospital and finishing at the school. Come out and congratulate Kevin and our other state track and field participants!

The Class of 2024 has taken on the city of Pittsburgh today on their senior trip. They toured the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium this morning, rode the Duquesne Incline this afternoon, and are enjoying the evening at PNC Park.

Dear Parents/Guardians:
Students in grades 8-11 received their preliminary course requests for the 25-26 school year today in their English class. This is not the student’s schedule. The course requests can also be viewed in the Parent and Student Grade Portals. If you have questions about the requests, please contact the School Counseling Center at 814-274-8553 or email Mrs. Minard at rminard@coudyschools.net. You can also have your student return the course request with a written note.

It was a great day to explore several Colonial Villages, thanks to the efforts of our fourth grade students. They have been working hard this month learning about colonial times, which culminated into this wonderful project and presentation to parents. So impressive!

And that’s about a wrap for sixth graders field trip to DC. The day began with tours at Washington’s private estate, Mount Vernon. Spent some time at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. Played a great game of trivia on the bus ride testing all the things learned, and now we’re wrapping up with dinner at the hibachi in Harrisburg before back in Coudy tonight! A special thank you to our bus driver, Bob. Our guide, Tammy. Mr. Streich, Mrs. Counts, Mrs. Roessner, Mrs. Cusatis, and Mrs. Moralis for all your help!

Another busy day for sixth grade! Started at Arlington cemetery and got to witness the changing of guards, time spent in the natural history museum, down to Baltimore for the National aquarium, and finishing the day now at Medieval times Dinner Theater & Entertainment!

Special thanks to guest educators, Josh Woods, from the Highway Safety Network, Katie Taylor, from Alcohol and Drug Prevention, and Ian Creech, from Coudersport local police department, who presented to students in grades 10-12 about the effects of alcohol and other drugs, and the consequences of driving under the influence as well as distract driving. We appreciate your time and message, and especially hope everyone will make good decisions and stay safe this summer!

Let the countdown begin!
We are celebrating our CHS Seniors in the senior hallway this week!
Only 11 more days until graduation.
Go Falcons!

The 2024 Kindergarten Bike Safety Program kicked off in April at Coudersport Elementary School by CARE for Children. Fifty "Falcon" Kindergarten students learned the importance of bike safety and wearing a helmet every time they ride a bike or scooter. Each student was also fit for a free helmet.

To add to all the excitement today, our sixth graders have landed in DC! A fun, educational, packed three days ahead! 🇺🇸

Seniors are enjoying their last few days at CHS and the sunshine while playing yard games and enjoying some shade.

Today was a beautiful day for an Elementary Field Day! Thank you to our PTSA, faculty/staff, parents, and HS students for helping to make this a success.

Our sixth graders enjoyed learning about a wide variety of occupations today during their annual Career Day. We appreciate all who participated; thank you for contributing to this rewarding event.

Yesterday, CHS students in grades 9-12 heard the heartwrenching story of Ken and Debbie Iwaniec and their son Kenton. Trooper Iwaniec was a 24 year old Pennsylvania State Trooper who was killed by a drunk driver in 2008 as he was coming home from his shift in Chester County. The driver hit Iwaniec head-on after crossing the center line. The trooper was flown to a hospital in Deleware but later died.
Kaden, a junior at CHS reflected on the assembly stating "I didn't expect it to be like that! I thought it was just going to be some slideshow with statistics and a bunch of reasons why we shouldn't drink and drive. It was more than that! When you hear from someone that has experienced this on a personal level, it touches you in a different way. It made a few people around me cry, it almost made me cry. Hearing from his parents, made it so much more personal. It was one of the most powerful assemblies I have ever sat through. It sure made me think!"
Trooper Iwaniec’s family has dedicated their lives to honoring his memory. Kenton’s mother, Debby Iwaniec, serves as the president of the Trooper Kenton Iwaniec Foundation. It is for all DUI victims and their families. Its mission is to honor the victims of drunk and drugged driving and support law enforcement in their efforts to keep our roads safe.
